Information Visitors Submit
Search Terms
When a name, location, or other detail is entered into a third-party search tool, that query is sent to the provider that operates the tool. This site does not keep its own separate log of those search terms.
Messages
If a visitor sends an email or contact message, the message and reply address may be kept long enough to respond and maintain ordinary business records. Those messages are not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Technical Information Collected Automatically
Like most websites, basic technical information may be collected when pages load. This information helps operate the site and understand performance.
- IP address.
- Browser type and version.
- Device type and operating system.
- Pages viewed and approximate time spent on those pages.
- Referring website, when one is available.
- Date and time stamps.
Cookies
Cookies and similar tools may be used to measure traffic, remember site behavior, and support advertising or analytics. Browser settings can block or delete cookies, although some features may work differently when cookies are disabled.
How Information Is Used
- To keep the site available, readable, and reasonably fast.
- To send search requests to the appropriate outside search partner.
- To understand which Avery County record pages visitors use most.
- To diagnose broken links, display errors, and other technical problems.
- To support advertising that may be based on general visitor interests.
Outside Websites and Public Records Links
This site links to sheriff pages, jail resources, NCDAC systems, the NC eCourts Portal, VINELink, BOP, ICE, and third-party search tools. North Carolina public records are governed in part by Chapter 132, including N.C.G.S. 132-1, but each outside website controls its own privacy practices after a visitor leaves this site.
Advertising partners may use their own systems to recognize activity across websites for interest-based ads. Those tools operate under the partner's policies, not this notice.
